As an App
Developer, I’m constantly in search of new, exciting, and efficient App
Marketing Strategies to promote my Apps. Over the years, I’ve tried and tested
multiple strategies; on average, out of every 10 strategies, only 1 or 2 tend
to work. The others are just expense/cost of doing business. There seems to be
an overwhelming perception out there in the App Development Community that
says: “Develop a good App and they’ll download.” – That statement is absolutely
false and the farthest from reality. No matter how good the App, if you don’t
spend enough time on the Promotion and Marketing, your App will be ostracized
and left for dead. It happens all the time. Heck, it’s happened to me – some of
the best Apps that I’ve ever created were a huge financial failure. I never
made more than $10 to $20 per month on those Apps. Yet, despite this stark and
brutal reality, there are Apps on the iTunes App Store that make $1,000 to
$2,000 per day – how they do it is anybody’s guess, but for the most part, the
Apps that are usually successful spend a lot of Time and Money on marketing
their product and creating brand awareness. The theory is simple: The more
money you spend, the more money you’ll eventually get. But the problem with
this theory is, in order to spend more money; you first need to have more
money. Because of this, a lot of App Developers quit and give up on their dream
of making a living from selling Apps.
With that
said, there is one App Marketing Strategy that everyone can use, irrespective
of the money one has in their bank accounts: Social Media Marketing. All you
need is to be a bit smart and creative, and you can create some really cool,
high-traffic viral marketing for your Apps. The marketing campaigns for each
App are different, so there is no one-size-fits-all solution here. You need to
be creative and use the power of Social Media to drive up your App Sales.
